Home is where the horse is… So I’ll be in the barn!! -Unknown
So after taking a winter break from writing and being free from school I have decided that it is time to continue with some awesome stories about horses and fun things that you can do with your horse! I am going to learn how to make macrame out of twine, tell more stories of my own, and show the miracles that can come from people with disabilities that have or know horses.
Today as I was doing some research on different people and the side effects of horses when I found that Kim Meeder has her ranch just a few hours away from the school, MILO that my sister went to for high school. When my Mom and I would go to see Kim, my sister, we passed right by it. Too bad I didn't know about Kim Meeder than otherwise I would have insisted on stopping. It is one small world we live in!

What a fresh and fun perspective you have given about horses Deanna. Sounds like you have quite a flare for writing about them. It's always good to write about your passion. We live in Darwin, Australia and you will find horses on any of the cattle stations around our state. They are very important to mustering the sheep and cattle and are usually beautiful specimens. Because the properties (ranches) are so large they muster up with helicopters first and then the jackaroos (cowboys) bring them into the station yards with the horses. If you like horse movies then download 'Man from Snowy River' to give you an idea of what it is like in Australia. Thank you for your wonderful stories. Keep up with the writing!

Thanks for sharing Wendy! I am very happy to hear that you liked what I have written so far. I love to hear what other people have to say about horses! 'Man from Snowy River' is a family favorite but I will have to watch it again because it has been some time since I have seen it.

I liked reading about your interest I horses and what you plan to write about on your blog. I like horses too and remember learning how to ride when I was just a kid with my dad, brother, and sister. I always liked to gallop fast, but since these were rental horses we had to take it easy since they could get pretty competitive with each other. I'm eager read what you know about how horses can help people who have emotional struggles, etc. I think you blog is off to a terrific start. Keep up the good work!

Hi Deanna,

This is a wonderful blog and I love the stories you tell about your horses. Thank you for inviting me to be one of your followers. Last year when my niece invited my son to take care of her horses while she went on some trips he allowed me to go with him. I fell in love with them--and I think they loved me too. It was delightful to watch the sunsets with them and to see them run up to the fence when we drive up. Of course they knew they were going to get something to eat. Being on that farm was pretty calming and quieted my soul right from the beginning. The horses who loved us made it delightful. Keep on writing. I'm going to watch for more of your stories.

Good stories about horses Deanna, I have been fortunate to have been around horses all my life since my father bought me my first pony when I was 7. She was the proverbial "Pony from Hell" I stopped counting when she bucked me off for the 50th time, but she taught me how to ride and the value of perseverance.

I am now 62, still have horses and ride as often as the weather permits. Over the years, I have done cross country, jumped, played Polo and Polo-Crosse, ridden horses in the military, had more fun and learned more valuable lessons than if I had not had horses in my life.

The absolute best adrenaline rush is charging down a polo field at full gallop on a good Thoroughbred holding the reins in one hand, the mallet in the other, standing in the stirrups and whacking a small white ball. That is life on the fast edge.

But I also treasured the quieter evening rides around our farm when we lived in Africa, checking our cattle seeing Kudu antelope and other wild animals.

My apologies, I am rambling. Horses do that to you!

Keep up the good writing.

Beautiful site. I love horses and have owned a couple in my lifetime. If circumstances were a little different, I would love to have another one. My granddaughter is horse crazy, at 10 years old.

Good site, with good content. Hope you keep it up. I'll tell my granddaughter about it. Her name is Mikaylen.

My Paso Fino filly is now almost 5 and the joy of my life. The friendship of a horse can be amazing and help heal most anything if you let them in.
